Sexual Abuse

This is something that needs to be more well known about, since it happens pretty often.

Sexual abuse- aka molestation, is the act of forcing someone to have unwanted sexual relations with another person. When the force is considered immediate, short time, it's called sexual assault. The attacker is called a sexual abuser or offender. But when the forcing is repeated over time, it's called sexual abuse and if the victim is under age of consent, it's called child sexual abuse.

Types of sexual abuse

Non-consensual: forced physical sexual behavior(rape, sexual assault)
Unwanted touching, either of a child or adult
Sexual kissing, fondlingm exposure of genitals, and voyeurism(spying), exhibitionism, and up to sexual assault
Exposing a child to pornography
Saying sexually explicit statements towards a child(molestation)
Also applies to sexual demands towards an adult
The use of a position to compel unwanted sexual activities without force(leads to rape/sexual assault)
Incest(family members forcing other family members to have sexual relations with them)
Certain forms of sexual harassment

Child sexual abuse
-Forcing someone under the age of consent to have sex

Effects of child sexual abuse can include:

  • Guilt, self blame
  • Flashbacks
  • Nightmares
  • Insomnia
  • Fear of things associated with the abuse(smells, objects, places)
  • Self esteem issues
  • Sexual dyfunction
  • Chronic pain
  • Addiction
  • Self injury
  • Suicidal tendencies
  • Somatic complaints
  • Depression
  • Post traumatic stress disorder
  • Anxiety
  • Other mental illnesses
  • Re-victimiaztion in adult hood
-Victims of child sexual abuse are over 6 times as likely to commit suicide
-Sexual abuse by a family member is a form of incest
-Approximately 15-25% of women and 5-15% of men were sexually assaulted when they were children. Most are acquainted with their victims; approximately 30% are relatives of the child, most often fathers, uncles, or cousins; around 60% are other acquaintances such as friends of the family, babysitters, ir neighbors; strangers are the offenders in about 10% of the cases. Most child sex abuse is committed by men; women commit about 14% of the offenses against boys and 6% against girls.

Developers: Rockstar Games, Rockstar North, Rockstar Leeds, Rockstar Toronto, Rockstar Lincoln
First release: Grand Theft Auto, Oct. 1997
Latest release: Grand Theft Auto III(for iOS, Android), Dec. 15, 2011

-Grand Theft Auto(GTA) is a multi award winning video game series created in the UK by dave Jones, then later on by Dan Houser and Sam Houser.
-It's primarily developed by British developer Rockstar North
-The name of the series refers to grand theft auto, a type of car crime referring to motor vehicle theft
-The series is set in fictional locales heavily based on American cities, while an expansion for the original was based on London.
-Gameplay is open world, meaning you can run around, explore, do missions at your leisure, side activities, consisting of driving, action-adventure, occasional role playing, stealth, racing.
-The game play has comedic satire based on American culture, but the series has been under fire for it's controversial adult nature and violent themes. The game is focused around different good guys trying to rise through the ranks of the criminal underworld. The bad guys are commonly characters who have betrayed the good guy or characters who have the most impact preventing the good guy from his/her progress
-And as for voices, famous people have provided voices for characters in the various games of this series. Such as:
  • Michael Madsen
  • Phil Collins
  • Jenna Jameson
  • Gary Busey
  • Ray Liotta
  • Samuel L. Jackson
  • Danny Trejo
  • Frank Vincent
  • Robert Loggia
  • Kyle MacLachlan
  • Peter Fonda
  • Dennis Hopper
  • Burt Reynolds
  • Chris Penn
  • Joe Pantoliano
  • James Woods

Overview
-Each game allows it's player to take on the role of a criminal or wannabe in a big city, typically an individual who rises through the ranks of organized crime through the course of the game. The player is given various missions to accomplish by kingpins and major idols in the city underworld which have to be done in order to progress.

-Assassinations and other crimes appear regularly, but occasionally driving a taxi, firefighting, street racing, bus driving, or learning to fly helicopters and fixed-wing aircraft are also present
-In the later ones, most notably Grand Theft Auto 2, the player is given a more expanded storyline in which he is forced to overcome an unfortunate event(i.e. being betrayed and left for dead) which serves as motivation for the character to advance.
-Grand Theft Auto III and later games have more prevalent voice acting, and radio stations, which simulate driving to music with DJs, radio personalities, commercials, talk radio, pop music and American culture.
-The use of vehicles in an explorable urban location provides a basic idea of a working city, complete with pedestrians who obey traffic. Further details are used to create an open ended atmosphere that has been used before, such as in The Simpsons Hit & Run, which is more family friendly.

Setting
-The GTA series is set in a fictional version of the world, in a number of various time periods. The original GTA introduced 3 main locations: Liberty City, which is based on New York City, Vice City, which is based on Miami and San Andreas, which is based on Los Angeles.
-Later games have been redone and expanded on the original. GTA: San Andreas takes place in the state of San Andreas, which is based on California and Nevada and includes the cities Los Santos(Los Angeles), San Fierro(San Francisco) and Las Venturas(Las Vegas).
-There have been other versions made, like an expansion pack for the original have London 1969 and London 1961, set in London, have been made as expansion packs for the original.

True Crime New York City

True Crime New York City

-Urban sandbox-style action adventure published by Activision and developed by Luxoflux for Xbox, PlayStation 2, and GameCube.
-2nd game for the True Crime series of games, recently released after the True Crime: Streets of L.A. game.

Overview
-The game starts with Marcus Reed, the good guy, assuming control of his father's criminal world after he is arrested. Later on after Reed gains control, he is betrayed by a close friend and he is almost killed. He survives, with the help of NYPD detective Terry Higgins. He is a close friend of Marcus' father, and offers to cover up Reed's criminal background before he enrolls Marcus in the NYPD academy.

-5 years under the management of the NYPD, Reed is an NYPD man himself. He works under the management of Higgins as well. Higgings gets a call from one of his contacts and asks for a meeting. At the warehouse where the meeting will be, there is an explosion, killing Higgins. Back at police HQ, Reed is being talked to by FBI agent Gabriel Whitting, who informs Reed that one of the detectives in the NYPD is a mole, and is probably behind the bombing. Whitting is unsure of who it is, the only known thing about this mole is that he/she is connected to New York's biggest crime syndicates. Whitting asks Reed to investigate these crime families and find the mole. The families consist of crime families based on actual crime families. You get to choose what case to solve after you finish the tutorial. You get to choose from the President's Club(probably a reference to the Black Mafia Family), the Shadow Tong(Chinese Triads), The Palermo Mob(Italian Mafia), Tutorial(Spanish gangsters, most likely a reference to the Latin Kings), etc.

-Towards the end of the game, another cop named Victor Navarro is arrested as the mole at Grand Central Station. This game has 2 possible endings; in the bad ending Navarro escapes the grip of the officers and grabs a gun, killing Whitting. He then boards a subway train with Reed in pursuit. Unfortunately, Reed throws Navarro off the train, killing him. Later, while Reed is waiting in the train station, Higgins sits next to him. It turns out he faked his death and framed Navarro to escape being arrested by Whitting. Higgins hands Reed a bag of cash and asks him to join him in Mexico. Reed is angry at being used, so he kills Higgins.

-The good ending has Navarro being arrested without incident. Later, Reed is approached by the not dead Higgins with the same offer of living comfortably in Mexico. Reed refuses, and Higgins threatens to expose Reed's criminal past, but he responds that he would pay for his crimes with honor and come quietly. Higgins runs into a subway train with Reed chasing close by. Higgins is then killed when the train derails. Back at teh station, Whitting promises to talk to the DA about Reed's dad and thanks him for catching the mole.

Features
-This game featured alot of New York's most known landmarks, even the boroughs of New York, every single detail of New York was brought into the game to make the player feel like they were actually in New York.

-Many of the buildings are accessible by the player, and these include hotels, restaurants, apartment buildings, pharmacies, clothing shops, car dealers, dojos, record stores, and more. The reason being these buildings are accessible is because throughout the game, you get to solve street crimes and many of these are in the buildings.

True Crime: Streets of LA

-Action adventure video game. Allows you to do role playing.
-Created by Luxoflux Games.

Overview
-In this open world game, this game focuses on the other side of the law.
-You play as Det. Nick Kang, a Chinese-American member of the LAPD who has problems with keeping out of trouble with the LAPD

Did You Know?
-Throughout the city of LA there are billboards advertising the release of a True Crime movie coming out in the fall of 2005. That's when the True Crime: New York City game came out

-In the final fight between Kang and Han Yu Kim is a tribute to Jet Li's Cradle 2 the Grave. Both fights had the good guy and bad guy fighting amidst a circle of fire from airplane wreckage.

Plot
-The player assumes the role of Nick Kang, a Chinese American detective and living nightmare of every officer on the LAPD because of his unorthodox police procedures and destructive talents of catching criminals. The game starts out showing Kang returning to LA after an extended leave. He goes to the shooting range to practice his 2 fist shooting techniques. That's when the Chief of the E.O.D (Elite Operations Division), Wanda Parks, walks in. She asks Nick to come back and help them in the solving of a rash of bombings of local Chinatown businesses. At first, they seem unrelated, but further investigation reveals that it is the work of the Chinese Triad groups. At first Nick is uninterested. Parks asks him to reconsider. He agrees on only one condition: he do it his way.

-Kang is partnered with Rosie Velasquez. When Nick teasingly remarks how she's a "good girl", she responds that, before saying goodbye, "she ran with more than a few Latino gangs before becoming a detective." Rosie is hesitant to do this because of rumors she heard about him. The case becomes personal for Nick. That's when the player learns that Henry Wilson was an excellent police officer who was involved in a drug operation in the 1970s. One day he disappeared without a trace. Soon, Internal Affairs found a stash of cocaine in his locker and it brought his work into question. Nick refuses to believe this.

-Rosie learns of Nick's history, when his mother died, and father disappeared, that him and his younger brother Cary went to Hong Kong to stay with family. Nick became hungry for revenge while solving another case. His work got more reckless as time went on and he used the surname "Kang" when his dad Wilson died. As Nick investigates, he faces Triad guys, Rocky(member of the Russian Mafia), and a general named Han Yu Kim(Korean People's Army)
Characters

Nicholas "Nick" Kang-Wilson: Although he was recently suspended indefinitely from the police force due to repeated incidents of excessive brutality, property damage, and refusing to follow orders, Nicholas Kang (Wilson) was recruited into the E.O.D. as the group's first field agent. The same over-the-line methods that got him thrown off the force enable him to succeed at the E.O.D.. Nick Kang's skills in martial arts are only matched by his ability to expertly wield firearms and drive like a professional stuntman. Voiced by Russell Wong
Rosie Velasco: An ex-gangbanger turned straight, Rosie Velasco is determined to prove herself worthy of her badge; unfortunately, she's just been partnered with Nick Kang, and isn't too happy about hitting the streets with a loose cannon. Nick isn't too happy about it either, but when their first meeting together concludes with her being wounded in a shootout, she winds up behind a desk working intel for the rest of the case. Voiced by Michelle Rodriguez

Chief Wanda Parks: Wanda Parks is the Chief Detective of the LAPD, as well as head of the Elite Operations Division, with jurisdiction over the entire City of Angels. She has two decades of law enforcement experience and is one of the most well respected officers in the LAPD. Parks puts up with Nick's brash and over-the-top nature because she knows when all hell breaks loose, Nick is the only man who consistently delivers.

George: An old friend of Henry's, and a father figure and mentor to Nick. He reveals the backstory of the Wilson family to Rosie, and serves as a narrator at the beginning and end of Nick's quest. Voice of Christopher Walken.

FBI Agent Masterson: He is called on the scene to oversee the case that the EOD is working on throughout the game. He doesn't like working with the EOD, especially because of Nick. voiced by Gary Oldman

Han Yu Kim: A General from North Korea, seeking to strengthen his country's position in the world scene through illegal means. To this end, he is working with Rocky and his Mafia connections, as well as the Chinese Triads. He is seen in all three endings, and fought as the last boss in two; his ultimate goals are only revealed in the true ending, however. The character's image is based on Kim Jong Il.

Cary (Kang) Wilson: Nick's little brother, owner of a vast chain of 24-hour dojos throughout the city, where Nick can improve his fighting ability. Nick is very protective of his younger brother who, for his father's sake, he has vowed to defend with his life.

Endings
Bad Ending: Nick faces off with Han Yu Kim at the top of a high-rise bank, after shooting his way through the General's mercenaries. If Nick loses the final fight, he is thrown off the building and only wakes up in time to realize his fate, as the General escapes. If Nick wins, it is the General who falls off from the building before Nick receives any information from him.

Good Ending: After battling through Ancient Wu's trials, the truth is revealed: Rocky was formerly a plant by the KGB, who quickly turned criminal when given the opportunity, along with Rafferty, Henry's former partner. Kang tracks the two to the Santa Monica airport, but is surprised by Jill and knocked unconscious. Coming to, Rocky reveals the rest of the story: when Henry refused to be turned by Rocky or Rafferty, Rocky shot him in the head and dumped his body in the ocean. Rocky prepares to kill Nick, but Rafferty takes the bullet. Rocky dies after Nick blows up his jet. The General arrives and explains that the Russians stole their money and must deal with loose ends. If Nick loses, the General escapes and Nick either passes out or dies from his injuries just as the police arrive. If Nick wins the fight, the General is killed just as the police arrive.

Average Ending: Cary is dead, Rosie is kidnapped by Rocky, who forces Nick to drive an armored car full of counterfeit money to the Chinatown Plaza, in exchange for her life. After being ambushed and killing the General's men, Rocky and Nick have a final fight. If Nick loses, he dies and Rocky escapes. If Nick wins, Rocky surprises him and is about to stab him to death, when he is shot down by Rosie. Earlier, he had taunted Nick about knowing the truth about his father; however, the secret died with him.

Scarface: The World is Yours

-Developed by Radical Entertainment and published by Vivendi Universal Games.
-Based on and is a quasi-sequel to the 1983 film starring Al Pacino.
-In the game, providing the voice of Tony Montana is not Al Pacino, but Andre Sogliuzzo.
-Released on PlayStation 2, PC, Xbox on Oct. 8, 2006 and on Wii on June 12, 2007

Plot
-The game begins in the film's final scene, with Tony(Andre Sogliuzzo) in his mansion office being raided by Alejandro Sosa's men. In a point of divergence from the movie, Tony kills the silent assassin, The Skull, that was to kill him with a shotgun. With the help of some of his surviving employees, Tony manages to escape.

-Sosa is then told that Tony's mansion has been seized by the police and DEA and that his massive drug empire is no longer. Hiding in a safehouse outside Miami, Tony regrets the choices he's made, and makes a vow to drop his cocaine addiction which led to his current situation. He then swears revenge on Sosa and promises to kill anyone who's in league with his enemy.

-3 months later, Tony returns to Miami. Everyone assumes he's dead, so all his assets have been divided up between the districts of Miami that he used to rule and have been given to the various drug cartels. His first thing to do: ask George Sheffield(James Woods) to become his lawyer again. Sheffield is hesitant to do it at first, but it's at a higher cost this time. Tony has no influence over him and accepts it.
-Starting off at the bottom again selling cocaine to personal dealers, Tony manages to get enough money to pay the police off to get his mansion back from Vice. He goes to see Gaspar Gomez(Cheech Marin) at his penthouse in Miami. He's not there, so Tony kills his head of security and many of his men, stealing a satellite phone for his use, hijacking an armored truck carrying $50,000. This enables him to open a bank account. This lets him recconnect with Jerry(Michael York), who has since been promoted and feeling unsafe, he agrees to help out Tony. He then manages to take over Little Havana, claiming all businesses and turfs, weakening the Diaz Cartel. While taking a break at the Babylon Club, Tony is attacked by armed gunmen who have been sent by the Diaz Brothers. One killer tells Tony that his mother has been killed. Fueled by rage, Tony goes to Diaz Motors and kills both of the brothers in rage and reclaims the territory.
-Pablo(Wilmer Valderrama), an associate of Sheffield, lures Tony to Freedom Town, where he first went when he came to the US, with the promise of information about his missing ex-wife Elvira. Unfortunately, this meeting is an ambush. Tony survives and hops into a speedboat to chase Pablo before killing him. Sheffield is added to his hit list. Then Downtown is the area he takes over next, taking over all businesses from the Contreras Cartel. He makes an ally with the Sandman, a cocaine producer from a set of Caribbean island south of Miami. He finds that Nacho Contreras is there as well, controlling a floating casino that was once an old freighter. Nacho escapes but Tony is there to kill him. As Nacho is swimming to an escape boat, Tony shoots him with an available sniper rifle and since he is bleeding, he is attracting sharks, which one eventually eats him. After Nacho is dead, Tony kills off the rest of the Contreras Cartel, taking another tanker belonging to Nacho, which he used to smuggle drugs into Miami. There are drugs galore on the tanker along with various ex-Nacho employees who work happily with Tony to establish a new supply line for cocaine

-Tony slowly but surely takes over North Beach and South Beach for his own reasons, fulfilling various business missions and taking over storehouses for distribution of drugs. He now controls Miami, as he once did, but supply lines are very weak. The Sandman says that he is going to war with his arch rivals, The Columbians. Tony helps him and drives the enemies away from the Islands. Before any celebrating can be done, the Columbians take over the small island of Tranquilandia, which is a small island owned by the Sandman and a very crucial base for the Montana Cartel. Tony takes it over, killing various armed gunmen and rescuing workers. The Islands are finally clear of any Columbians. The Montana Cartel's power begins to go up, and Tony becomes powerful once more. When he has realized he has gained enough power to go after Alejandro Sosa, he goes to Bolivia to kill him.

-Meanwhile, in Bolivia, Sosa is in the middle of a meeting with Sheffield and Gomez, talking about the problem of Montana. Then, as if by magic, Montana busts into the meeting. He moves through the various locations on the ground, killing off Sosa's men, one by one. He kills Sheffield, who was going to try and launch a rocket from a bazooka at Tony, and also shoots Gomez in a bedroom. When Tony confronts Sosa in his living room, they talk about the situation in New York. Tony tells Sosa that he refused to kill the journalist because he refused to kill a wife and her kids. Soon enough, Tony kills Sosa, making his revenge taken care of. When he finds one of Sosa's men still alive. The man, thinking Tony will kill him, begs for his life, and instead Tony gives him a job, which is a relief to the man.

-The man is now Tony's butler. The barkeep he talked to when he first arrived in the Islands, a woman named Venus, is now sitting with him in his hot tub as his new wife.

Post Secret

-Ongoing commnity mail art project
-Created by Frank Warren
-People mail in their secrets anonymously on a homemade postcard.
-Select secrets are then posted on the PostSecret website or are used for PostSecret's books or museum exhibits

History
-The concept of the project was that completely anonymous people decorate a postcard and tell a secret never told before. No restrictions on it, the only one is that it must be completely truthful. It can be anything, no one gets judged. Entries can go in all kinds of directions, from admissions of sexual misconduct, criminal activity and confessions of secret desires to embarassing habits, hopes and dreams. The secrets are meant to be empowering both to the author and those who read them. The site creates a place where you can feel accepted

-This originally started on the blogging site Blogspot and is updated every Sunday with 10 new secrets. But then, it began posting 20 secrets every Sunday.

-In April 2008, they teamed up with 1-800-suicide to answer some of these suicide calls
-The idea of sharing secrets while still staying anonymous gives people the chance to say anything without their identities being revealed.

Website
-http://www.postsecret.com/

I also did this as a final for my Art 100 class. You may know this already since I did a post on it. I have a secret that I'm so deathly afraid to say. So, ok here it is: I wish I was the same age as Mick Jagger so I could marry him!!! This was my main secret, it had quite a few pics of Mick on it, saying I wish I was the same age he is so I could marry him and just hug him!!!

Another thing that's not really a secret, but more of a random thought is that for some reason, I find Asian, Italian and British guys to be really sexy!!!!

Hiroyuki Sanada

Ken Watanabe

Dominic Rowan as Jacob Thorne on Law and Order:UK. IDK what it is about British guys that is so sexy, but there is obviously something sexy about them!!

Stevie Van Zandt

Jamie Bamber as Matt Devlin on Law and Order:UK

Sylvester Stallone
