I wonder why it is that Disney movies always have the best music? I have at least 2-3 Disney soundtracks at home, Mulan being one of them.

What a Girl Wants

| |

This is one of my biggest favorite movies EVER!!!!

What a Girl Wants

-2003 movie starring Amanda Bynes, Colin Firth, Kelly Preston, and Oliver James
Did You Know?
-The boy who plays Ian, Oliver James, is a drummer in the movie and a drummer in real life

Plot
-Daphne Reynolds(Amanda Bynes), a young American girl, has a style all her own. She lives with her uncoventional, but loving Bohemian mother Libby(Kelly Preston) above a Chinese restuarant in New York. She dreams of one day meeting the father she never knew, the man Libby loved long ago. Bound and determined to find him, she does a little internet research and discover's that his aristocratic family found her and her mother unsuitable. So on an impulse, she gets on a flight to London, where she finds her father is a high profile politician named Lord Henry Dashwood(Colin Firth), who has controversially renounced his place in the royal succession to run for the House of Commons. Henry opens his life and social calendar to the daughter he never knew he had, but Daphne's appearance in his society creates a rift that threatens to undermine his career.

-Not wanting to cause trouble, Daphne stifles her vibrant personality, refashions herself as a proper debutante and plunges in to proper British society. Bur when Henry's support, she does not get any help from his conniving fiancee or jealous daughter, who are bent on ruining everything for Daphne. With the help of a society savvy, charming local musician named Ian(Oliver James), Daphne proves that love can truly conquer all. But she soon realizes that she does not like the person she is becoming. As much as she wants to reconnect with her father, she realizes it's not worth it if she can't be herself. Though mostly through interferences from Henry's fiancee during the debutante ball, when she cruelly locks Daphne in a room during the father-daughter dance, she goes back home but not Henry, not before finding Libby's banishment was a plot, created by his fiancee's politically ambitious father. He realizes how much he loves Daphne and goes to find her. He brings Ian with him. The film ends with Daphne's mother officially getting married to Daphne's father. Ian becomes Daphne's boyfriend and she goes to Oxford University so she can be near him.

Monty Python's Life of Brian

| |

Monty Python's Life of Brian

-British comedy made in 1979
-Directed by the Monty Python team
-Tells the story of Brian Cohen(Graham Chapman), a young Jewish man who is born on the same day as, and next door to, Jesus Christ and is mistaken for him.
-The film contains themes of religious ideas that were considered controversial, drawing blames of blasphemy and protests from religious groups.
-In the UK, it got bans or imposed X ratings.
-The film was the 4th highest grossing movie in the UK in 1979 and the highest of any British film in the US that year. This is the first Monty Python movie to get an R rating in the US

Did You Know?
-6 cast members played over 40 characters
-Eric Idle originally recorded the song "Always Look on the Bright Side of Life" in his normal singing voice. After he thought it was not right, he re-recorded it with a Cockney accent, singing the new version in a hotel room with mattresses against the wall.
-Originally financed by EMI, they backed out when they thought the script was blaspehmous. EMI was sued by the Pythons and was settled out of court. But then, to the rescue, came George Harrison, who paid for the movie to be made, with the film company Handmade Films for the movie. And as a reward, George Harrison got a small cameo role in the movie.
-Keith Moon, drummer for The Who, was originally supposed to be in the movie. Moon was selected to play a street prophet in the scene where Brian hides among them. Eric Idle saw Moon the night of his death and remembers him being excited about the role, which went to Terry Gilliam instead. The film is dedicated to Moon
-During the Mr. Papadopoulous scene(played by George Harrison), Michael Palin's son Tom appears in the movie uncredited. (Tom Palin was the only Python child that wanted to be in the movie.) Michael Palin later joked that at least his son would be able to tell people that he appeared in a scene with both the Pythons and a Beatles member.
-In the movie, Stan(Eric Idle) wants to be a woman and insists on being called Loretta. As a member of The Beatles, producer George Harrison performed the song "Get Back", which includes the lyrics "JoJo was a man who thought he was a woman" and "Get Back, Loretta".

Plot
-Brian Cohen(Graham Chapman) is born in a stable a few doors down from the one Jesus was born in. It initially confuses the 3 Wise Men(Graham Chapman, Michael Palin, John Cleese), who have come to bring gifts to the son of God. Brian grows up a young man hating the Roman occupation of Judea. While attending Jesus's Sermon on the Mount, Brian falls for an attractive young woman, Judith(Sue Jones-Davies). His desire for her and hatred for the Romans lead him to join the People's Front of Judea(PFJ), one of many groups who spend more time fighting each other than the Romans.

-After several misadventures, and escaping Pontius Pilate(Michael Palin), the fugitive winds up in a lineup of mystics and prophets who bother the crowd in a plaza. Forced to come up with something in order to blend in, Brian babbles religious things and quickly attracts a group in front of him. Guards passing him pass by without as much as a glance and when it's clear, but he does not realize he has started a movement. He grows annoyed when he finds that people have followed him, with even the slightest unusual occurrence of being hailed as a "miracle". After escaping from the mob, Brian runs into Judith, and they spend the night together. He opens the curtains to find a huge amount of people outside his house, all claiming he is the Messiah. Annoyed, Brian is helpless to change their minds so everything he says is useless

-Brian goes to the PFJ headquarters, where he finds people demanding miracle cures. After sneaking out, Brian finally is captured and scheduled to be crucified. Elsewhere, a huge crowd has assembled outside the palace. Pilate tries to get rid of the feeling of revolution with the announcement of granting them the decision of who gets pardoned. The crowd simply shouts out names containing the letter "R", in order to mock Pilate's lisp. Judith appears in the crowd and calls Brian's name, which the crowd starts yelling.

-Then, towards the end, as he is on the cross, every one of the characters starts shouting "I'm Brian" as a homage to the movie Spartacus. They start singing "Always Look on the Bright Side of Life".

There is no mention in the film of the fact that Eric Idle's ever-cheerful joker is called 'Mr. Cheeky', or that the Roman guard played by Michael Palin is named 'Nisus Wettus'.
Spike Milligan had an unplanned cameo as a prophet ignored because his acolytes are chasing after Brian. By coincidence he was visiting his old World War II battlefields inTunisia where the film was being made. The Pythons were alerted to this one morning and he was promptly included in the scene that just happened to be being filmed. He disappeared again in the afternoon before he could be included in any of the close-up or publicity shots for the film.[6]

Help!

Help!

These movies may seem a bit odd to some, but to those who are fans of The Beatles, they may be good.

Plot
-An eastern cult(parody of the Indian Thugee cult) is about to sacrifice a woman to the goddess Kali. Just as she is about to die, the high priestess notices she is not wearing the sacrificial ring. Ringo Starr, Beatles drummer has it; sent to him by the victim. It's on his finger. Determined to get the ring and sacrifice the woman, the great Swami Clang(Leo McKern), the high priestess Ahme(Eleanor Bron) and other cult members including Bhuta(John Bluthal) leave for London. After several tries to get the ring, they find Ringo in an Indian restaurant. Ringo learns that if he does not give the ring back, he will be the sacrifice. Ringo then finds that the ring is stuck on his finger

-Next, they find a jeweler to remove the ring, but all the tools used on it break. In a last effort attempt, the guys resort to the efforts of a bumbling scientist, Foot(Victor Spinetti) and his assistant Algernon(Roy Kinnear). His lab is full of British Army surplus items and he hates anything British. When his equipment have no effect on the ring, Foot thinks he must have the ring. Before anything else happens, Ahme comes in with a pink Walther P-38 pistol, gets the group and they return home.

-Ahme, now on the guy's side, tells the group that her sister's time has passed and she is now out of danger. Ringo is now the sacrifice. Ahme proposes to inject Ringo with a potion derived from orchids to shrink his finger to remove the ring. She tells him to be brave and that if he were brave, none of this would have been necessary.

-When Ringo is lying on the bed in Paul's room waiting for the needle, they start pounding on the door. But before Ahme can start, the needle ends up going into Paul's leg instead and he shrinks. The cult members break into the room and a fight starts. Ahme flees. Ringo is doused with red paint in order to be sacrificed. This somehow ruins his best suit and a swordsman comes in to fight. Foot comes in with a Webley gun and sacres the man away. The gang retreats and Foot tries to take the ring. Paul unshrinks and John starts to swing a lamp at Foot who tries to shoot him, but the gun misfires. Blaming this on the fact that the gun is British made, Foot leaves.

-The band flees to the Austrian Alps for safety but thugs and Foot follow them. As The Beatles participate in a skiing game, Foot and Algernon booby trap one of the curling stones with a bomb. George sees the bomb and tells everyone to run. The bomb goes off after a delay, creating a hole in the ice in which a swimmer(Mal Evans) emerges and asks directions to the White Cliffs of Dover. Next, Swami skis down a slope that Ahme told him was the way to get further pursuit of The Beatles. But it ends up being a ramp for a ski jumping contest. Swami is declared winner. The group goes back to England and they ask for protection from Scotland Yard(British police). They get it in the form of a cowardly Inspector(Patrick Cargill). After being attacked while recording in the middle of Salisbury Plain surrounded by British Army men, they hide in "A Well Known Place"(Buckingham Palace).

-The group goes into a small bar where Swami appears to be working. After being served alcohol, Ringo can't pick his glass up from the table so George tips it over, unknowingly opening a trap door to the cellar Swami set up. Inside the cellar is a broken ladder and a tiger. They go to summon the Inspector, telling him that to tame the tiger, he must sing Ode to Joy from Beethoven's 9th Symphony. While disguised, The Beatles take a plane to the Bahamas, followed by Foot and Clang. After Ringo is nearly captured, the other Beatles pose as him to lure the cult members, who are then arrested by the Bahamas Police. Despite their best efforts, Ringo is captured by Foot, who tries to get him onto a ship intending to cut off his finger to get the ring.

-Ahme rescues Ringo by giving Foot the same orchid potion. The 2 try to escape the ship by jumping into the water, but Rinog can't swim. They are captured by the cult and tied down on the beach where they are surrounded by 2 battalions of Kukhri Rifles. Clang begins the ceremony to sacrifice Ringo after telling him that the cult members are prepared to attack the rest of The Beatles when they come, and that if Ringo attempts to warn them, he will die instantly.

-Ringo manages to untie himself and tries to wave to his band buddies to wanr them away. With this act of courage, the ring falls from his finger. He puts the ring on Clang. Ahme declares that Clang be the sacrifice, as he's wearing the ring. The movie ends playing the title song

Inspiration
-The Beatles said the film was inspired by the Marx Brothers classic movie Duck Soup. And they also said that it was slightly parodying James Bond.

Did You Know?
-In the scene where The Beatles are in the bar, there is an Indian band playing. That's what started an interest in sitar playing for George
-The reason some of their lines may be screwed up or they don't make much sense is The Beatles were experimenting with marijuana
-The Hindu god that the cult in the movie worship is Kali, aka Kali-Ma. She is the Hindu version of the Grim Reaper.
-It is widely believed that John started wearing his trademark granny glasses in the movie How I Won the War. Not true, John can be seen wearing the trademark glasses in the scene where The Beatles are in disguise at the airport
-In the scene where the jeweller is trying to solve Ringo's ring problem, George can be seen quietly shoplifting jewels into his overcoat!
-The tiger that scares Ringo in the basement of the bar was only a cub, about 10 months old. And Ringo was behind several inches of glass to separate him and the tiger.
-In the scene where Paul shrinks, to simulate a "nude scene", he wears flesh colored swim trunks. He uses a gum wrapper to wrap around him like a towel that strangely resembles a Wrigley's Spearamint Gum wrapper, although no brand is ever seen on it.
-In the scene where George warns people about the bomb, he accidentally touches the breasts of the woman behind him
