This was one of my dad's biggest favorite actors. I figure do a post on someone my dad liked in movies, my dad was a serious movie nut, he loved movies, he grew up going to the cinema to see movies and things and that instilled a love of theatre and movies in him.

Michael Caine is one of the few actors to win an Academy Award for acting in every decade from the 1960s to 2000s. He was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II for his contribution to cinema.
Early Life
-He was born to Ellen Frances Marie, a cook and Maurice Joseph Micklehwite, a fish market porter. He grew up during WWII, and was evacuated with his family to North Runcton, in Norfolk. After the war, they moved into a cramped house in Canada since most of the houses in London had been destroyed by blitz bombing in 1940-1941. From 1952-1954, he served in the British Army's Royal Fusiliers, and then went on to active service duty in the Korean War. He believes that youth violence can be stopped by the return of National Service.
Career
-When he began acting, he started using the name Michael Scott. But someone informed him that name was already being used, so one day while talking to his agent in Leicester Square, he seen an ad for The Caine Mutiny, he said he decided to change his name to Michael Caine.
1960s
His first acting role was in the 1964 movie Zulu, where he played an upper class British army soldier named Gonville Bromhead. His most well noted roles include: Harry Palmer in The Ipcress File(1965), the womanising title character in Alfie(1966), and he went on to play Harry Palmer in other films, such as Funeral in Berlin(1966), Billion Dollar Brain(1967), Bullet to Beijing(1995), Midnight in St. Petersburg(1995). His first US film was the 1966 movie Gambit, alongside Shirley MacLaine.
1970s
In 1971, he played the lead role of Jack Carter in the movie Get Carter, a British gangster movie. In 1972, he starred alongside Laurence Olivier in Sleuth and the Man Who Would Be King alongside Sean Connery in 1975.

1980s
By the end of this decade, he moved to the US, but alot of the roles he got were criticised. In 1983, he won a BAFTA award for Educating Rita, a Golden Globe for Dirty Rotten Scoundrels in 1988, an Academy Award for Mona Lisa in 1986
1990s
The 1990s were a high point in his life, when he started getting bigger and better roles. In 1992, he got to show off his singing voice when he was asked to play Ebenezer Scrooge in The Muppet's A Christmas Carol. In 1994, he played a villain named Michael Jennings in On Deadly Ground(1994). In 1998, he received a Golden Globe for his role in the 1998 movie Little Voice, and in 1999, he starred in The Cider House Rules for which he won an Oscar.

2000s
In the 2000s, he starred alongside Sandra Bullock in Miss Congeniality(2000), playing a beauty pageant coach named Victor Melling, and in 2002, he starred as Nigel Powers, Austin Powers father, in Austin Powers: Goldmember, in 2003 he starred alongside Robert Duvall in Secondhand Lions and was cast as Alfred Pennyworth, Bruce Wayne's butler in Batman Begins(2005). In 2006, he starred as John Cutter in The Prestige, while in 2008, he reprised his role as Alfred in The Dark Knight. In 2000, he starred in a remake of the movie Get Carter, alongside Sylvester Stallone, playing a loan shark named Cliff Brumby

2010s
He had a brief cameo in the movie Inception, and also provided the voice for Finn McMissile in Cars 2, an Aston Martin who was a superspy and also his voice was used in the movie Gnomeo and Juliet. In 2012, he will reprise his role as Alfred Pennyworth in The Dark Knight Rises.
